I came across this on-line AutoCAD training manual from Kristen Kurland of the Carnegie Mellon University whilst browsing the forums on Cad Tutor.
The tutorials are based on AutoCAD 2006 and It looks like a like a pretty good resource for a beginners. The Book has 40 Chapters and covers everything from Installing AutoCAD to LISP and setting up standards. And it appears to be FREE. You can check it out here:
